Camp Week: Creative Summer Camps for Girls

Summer is fast approaching, which means it’s time to enroll in summer camp! If your daughter is not interested in another traditional camp experience, keep your eyes open for creative summer camp options. Unique and creative camp opportunities abound, but you may have to do some digging to find them. Here are some suggestions to inspire you when seeking out options in your area:

Curious Jane Camp

Curious Jane Camp opened for its first summer in 2009. Founded by a mom of two girls, Curious Jane aims to empower girls to be active in learning and problem solving. Girls in Kindergarten – 6th Grade explore science, design, and engineering in a fun and creative environment at Curious Jane. Classes include everything from toy design to DIY fashions! (Location: NYC metro area)

Kids Culinary Camp

The Kids Culinary Academy of Vermont has 1, 2, and 3 week residential programs where kids ages 10 and up learn cooking and baking skills. The courses cover basics such as menu planning, knife skills, kitchen hygiene, and healthy eating habits, along with recipes for soups, sauces, beef, poultry, vegetables, desserts, and more! It’s a delicious opportunity for aspiring chefs to improve their skills. (Location: rural Vermont)

Modeling Camp

Modeling camp is the ideal summer experience for fashionistas ages 7-18. This camp aims to teach girls to approach life with confidence and style! Campers build self-esteem while developing social graces. Programs include Fashion, Fashion Design, Modeling, and more. (Location: DC metro area, NYC, LA)

Hollywood Stunt Camp

Pali Overnight Adventures offers 1 and 2 week stunt camp sessions. Kids ages 9-16 can learn high falls, hand-to-hand combat, swordplay techniques, safe landing and falling techniques, fight-scene choreography, and more. They’ll be guided by professional stuntmen with years of experience working on Hollywood feature films and will practice on state-of-the-art stunt equipment (Location: Running Springs, CA)
