Earlier this week, we talked about different hair brush types. Now, we’ll talk about how to keep your hair styling tools super clean.

  • Soap them up. Just like you need to wash your clothes and your sheets, you need to remember to wash your brushes (and combs). Soak them in some warm, sudsy water (you can even use a little bit of your shampoo) and rinse them really well. How often should you do this? Do it regularly, and use your judgment: you can tell when they start looking (and even smelling) yucky. If you use a lot of hair products, like gel or mousse, you’ll probably need to wash your hair brushes more often.

  • Replace them. Brushes do NOT last forever. Signs you should replace your brush: some of the bristles have broken.  Or even after a thorough cleaning, your brush still looks kind of gross. Both are signs it’s time to get a new one.

  • Don’t share! We know, we know. It’s tempting to share your brushes with your BFF. But! You shouldn’t share personal care products, and that includes all types of brushes: hair brushes, tooth brushes, and makeup brushes.

‘Fess up, FPgirl. How often do you clean your hairbrushes?? Do you have any cleaning tips? Share in the comments!!
