To All the Moms Out There…

As Mother’s Day approaches, Sarah McIlroy, our CEO & Founder at FashionPlaytes, has a few words to share with us regarding her special bond with her mother & family that helped make her dreams become a reality!

My husband jokes that he didn’t know anything until he was 30. Interesting that number coincides with the birth of our first child. Everything changed the minute that she came into this world.  Our lives were suddenly intertwined. Priorities shifted & a new sense of pride, emotion & responsibility enveloped us.

Growing up with lots of love and support gives you the foundation to do anything.  I know this now because I really believed I could achieve any and all of my goals and worked hard to make them happen as I grew up. This is why I strive for the same with my children.

Recently, my whole family got together for a wonderful Easter weekend. My mother pulled out some clothes she had made & saved from our childhood.  I was taken back by the beauty of a simple blue dress. Impeccably made, it has lasted 3 generations – my mother wore it, as did I on a few special occasions.  The dress fits Maddie like my grandmother (her great-granddaughter) made it for her! Seeing my daughter try on this classic dress and squeal with delight simply reaffirmed why I started FashionPlaytes in the first place!

It’s a wonderful feeling to love what you are wearing & even better when your mother loves it too! Fashion is an opportunity to express yourself.  Girls are full of imagination & creativity, and FashionPlaytes lets them channel that into designing their own clothes.  It’s a powerful feeling to wear something unique that has been created from your imagination or put together with a special person.  I wanted my girls and girls everywhere to have the opportunity to experience that sense of pride and satisfaction.  My mother encouraged me to be creative and unique in my own way.  She motivated me, just as I motivate my kids to do the same.

Today, FashionPlaytes is a family friendly environment that encourages girls to bring their design dreams to reality. We are creating wearable memories, because we’re more than just a clothing company. We provide a safe place where we hope you can bond with your children and embrace their design talents. The thank you notes we receive from girls say it better than we can! As we continue to build our community, we are so glad to have you as a part of our extended family!
