Make a Runway Cake

Looking for a cake to WOW your guests? Well this cake is it! Fun and fashion themed, this easy-to-do runway cake will have your guests admiring you for both your creativity and baking skills! Have fun and get creative using different icings and candies to see what fabulous designs your guests can create!

 

What you’ll need:

  • -Cake Mix
  • -9" x 13" Pan
  • -Vanilla Frosting
  • -Food Coloring (Optional)
  • -Straws
  • -Tape/Scissors
  • Fashion Magazine
 

How to do it:

  • 1. Bake your cake in a 9” X 13” pan
  • 2. Once finished, chill your cake to prepare to carve your runway
  • 3. Once chilled, carve down the center of your cake creating two 4 1/2” x 13” pieces of cake
  • 4. With those two sections create a T-shape to form your runway
  • 5. Once the basic shape is created you can now start frosting your runway. For this step regular vanilla frosting may be used to create a white runway. To create a colored runway add the appropriate color food coloring to create a colorful runway
  • 6. Now that your runway is complete you are going to need models! Look through fashion magazines. Find and cut out your favorite designs!
  • 7. Tape your models to the end of your straws
  • 8. These model straws can now be stuck in your cake to create a delicious fashion runway!
 

Hints

  • -For a more personalized cake, take photos of your fashionista before the party. Use those photos to make her the model!
