Fashion Quiz: Rompers, Yay or Nay?

Fashion Quiz of The Week

Hello again FP girls! We’re back with another hot discussion of fashion and the topic is (drumroll) rompers! Rompers are one-piece garments that look a little bit like overalls, but are looser and have shorter and slightly puffier legs. Essentially, the romper is supposed to be a combination of shirts and shorts. Now, the question for you today is whether you think rompers are the new in, or whether they should fade into obscurity. Below is a list of the pros and cons of rompers to help you decide!

Why Rompers should go

Choosing the right size and shape:

Picking a romper to suit your body type can be a challenge and if it’s done wrong, the results can be disastrous. Rompers that are too tight could highlight bulges that you may not like to show off while rompers that are too loose could completely swamp your body’s shape.

Limited body shape:

Continuing on from the previous list item, rompers may have the negative effect of emphasizing curves. This means that rompers aren’t for the curvy individuals and more for those who have a thin or boyish build.

Finding the right color and pattern:

Unfortunately, a romper is not a piece of clothing that can have loud colors or bold patterns. If the colors and patterns are too ostentatious, they may distract from appealing parts of the body so you’ll mostly have to buy solid-color rompers. With rompers, you can’t make much of a statement with color or pattern.

Taking off the romper:

While the one-piece romper may look great, it’s less-than-fun to take off, especially if you need to run to the bathroom. Because it is a one-piece, the romper can’t pulled down as easily as shorts, which could cause problems if you’re having an emergency with your bathroom situation. It may also feel awkward to pull a romper off your shoulders and get half-naked in a Porta-Potty.

Braving the stigma:

Although this happens rarely, some unkind and immature soul may snicker that you look like a giant baby. Originally, babies and young children wore the romper so you’ll have to forge through the idea that you’re wearing what babies wear.

Why Rompers are Awesome

Versatility:

Rompers are extremely flexible as you are able to wear rompers during the day as well as at night. Also, with the right rompers, you can wear them to casual and formal events so they can suit almost any occasion.

Comfort:

They’re very comfortable to wear since they’re nice and loose. The right romper won’t pinch your waist in squeeze your stomach. In warm weather, the relaxed cut of the rompers will keep you cool as your skin will be able to breathe and air can freely circulate.

Free movement:

Since rompers aren’t dresses and have shorts, your range movement is much freer than wearing dress. You won’t have to be too careful about the way you sit or how a strong breeze will expose your nether regions.

Simple yet Easy:

You won’t need to do any matching for this fashionable one-piece. That you means you won’t need to go fumbling around in your closet for a matching shirt and shorts as rompers have your back in the matching department.

I LOVE rompers! I have one that is a purple-ish pink and has black and white flowers. Rompers are definitely a yay in my book. I can take my romper off easily. Also if someone says you look like a giant baby you shouldn’t feel bad about that as long as you like what your wearing. Plus some babies have spectacular style so even if it isn’t a compliment take it as one. The perfect romper is out there for you so just keep looking! If you go to a store and you try on a romper, but it doesn’t fit just keep looking. I think you can be free with your style so if you want to wear a romper with bright colors and bold prints go for it. I know that some out there are like that.

Isabelle, we totally agree as far as baby fashion goes! Most celebrity babies have a better designer wardrobe than me! I love rompers too! Thanks for the awesome comment!
