Roller coasters, funnel cakes, water rides, oh my! Summer is the season of theme parks, but before you jump in the car, remember to pack your bag with these 10 essentials! Here’s what to bring to a theme park for the best time ever:

1. Sun screen

This is a really important thing to bring to a theme park since you’ll be outside all day. Do your best to reapply after every ride, especially water rides!

2. Reusable water bottle

Some theme parks might not not allow these inside, so do your research before hand. If the theme park you’re visiting does allow you to bring in outside water bottles, be sure to grab one so you can stay easily hydrated.

3. Pain relievers

It’s not uncommon for even the most seasoned roller coaster riders to get headaches after a few rides. Packing pain relievers like Advil will keep you feeling 100% all day long.

4. Rain coat

Bring along your rain jacket or poncho so you can stay dry if the weather isn’t ideal. Even if the weather forecast doesn’t call for rain, it’s better to be safe than sorry!

5. Ziplock bags

Putting your phone and other important personal items in a sealed ziplock baggie will keep everything dry and protected from the elements.

6. Band aids

This simple first-aid staple is sure to save the day if you get any bangs or bruises! Just make sure you wash any cuts with soap and water before placing a band aid on it.

7. Hand sanitizer

Let’s face it, theme parks aren’t the cleanest places in the world. Pack a travel-size bottle of hand sanitizer so you don’t have to worry about any germs.

8. Hair ties

Throw a couple spare hair ties on your wrist for keeping your hair off your back while you’re waiting in line, and out of your face when you finally get on the ride!

9. Walkie-talkie

Walkie-talkies are a great way to ensure that you don’t lose your family and friends while enjoying the theme park, not to mention they’re lots of fun! Parents, walkie-talkies are a great way to give your older children some freedom at the theme park without having to worry about them getting lost. Just made sure your batteries are charged and that your WT’s are waterproof!

10. Your safety plan

Check in with your parents and/or chaperones before you hit the theme park. Be sure to have a plan in case you get separated. Know where you’ll meet if you can’t find each other, and how to find help if you need it.
